The Origins and Recipes of the Pornstar Martini
The UK's second most searched for cocktail, we've made quite a few of these over the years . always on the menu for any occasion although sometimes its best to the change the name.. as who has a pornstar at a wedding !

The Pornstar Martini, attributed to bartender Douglas Ankrah, burst onto the cocktail scene in the late 20th century, its origins often linked to Ankrah's time at the Lab Bar in London during the early 2000s.
Though the exact tale of its creation may vary slightly depending on the source, there's a consensus that Ankrah, while consulting for the Maverick club in Cape Town, initially dubbed the drink the Maverick Martini. Its transformation into the provocative Pornstar Martini came later, when it underwent a rebranding at the Townhouse bar in Knightsbridge.
Typically crafted with vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, and puree, the classic Pornstar Martini is served with a shot of prosecco and garnished with half a passion fruit. This tantalizing mix of sweet, tart, and bubbly flavors, complemented by its visually striking presentation, swiftly propelled it to fame in bars and lounges worldwide.
The cocktail's seductive name undoubtedly contributed to its allure, injecting an element of mystery and excitement. Despite its provocative title, the Pornstar Martini has secured a permanent place on countless cocktail menus and is relished by a diverse array of patrons.
As with any beloved drink, variations of the Pornstar Martini have emerged over time, as mixologists experiment with different ingredients and presentations to add their own unique touch. Nevertheless, the essence of the cocktail—a delightful fusion of passion fruit, citrus, and effervescence—remains at its core, ensuring its enduring popularity among aficionados of fine libations.
Sadly, Douglas Ankrah passed away on August 15, 2021, under circumstances linked to undisclosed health issues, though it's known he struggled with heart problems. Let's honor the creator of the iconic drink of the 21st century , Raise a glass.... Cheers Doug!
